Call for participants: Study on ‘Afterlife Technologies’ & Grief

Have you used a digital service to simulate a conversation with someone who has died? Examples of such services include Replika, Project December, or “You, Only Virtual.”

About the study

I am seeking adults who have used any digital platform to engage in a simulated conversation with someone they knew who has died. This research explores how digital afterlife technologies are experienced in the context of grief and bereavement.

What participation involves

  • A confidential interview lasting approximately 60 minutes
  • Conducted remotely or in person, at a time that suits you
  • Option to take part in follow-up interviews (optional)

Ethics and support

  • Participation is entirely voluntary
  • All contributions are confidential
  • Interviews are conducted by a researcher experienced in grief research, with care and sensitivity
